Google Maps is a powerful tool that helps us navigate through unfamiliar places and find the best routes to our destinations. However, there are times when we may have a preferred route that we want to take, even if Google Maps suggests a different one. In this blog post, we will show you how to force Google Maps to take a certain route.

Step 1: Plan Your Route

The first step is to plan your route and identify the specific roads or areas that you want to include in your preferred route. This could be due to personal preferences, avoiding tolls, or wanting to take a scenic drive.

Step 2: Open Google Maps

Open the Google Maps app on your smartphone or visit the Google Maps website on your computer. Make sure you are signed in to your Google account for a seamless experience.

Step 3: Enter Your Starting and Ending Points

Enter your starting point and destination in the search bar. Google Maps will automatically generate the most efficient route based on traffic conditions and other factors.

Step 4: Drag and Drop to Modify Route

To force Google Maps to take a certain route, you can manually modify the suggested route by dragging and dropping the route line. Click and hold on any part of the route line and drag it to a different road or area that you want to include in your preferred route. As you drag the route line, Google Maps will dynamically update the directions and estimated arrival time.

Step 5: Confirm Your Route

Once you have modified the route to your satisfaction, click on the “Start” button to begin navigation. Google Maps will now provide turn-by-turn directions based on your preferred route.

Step 6: Save Your Route

If you want to save your preferred route for future reference, you can create a custom map in Google Maps. Click on the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top-left corner of the screen and select “Your Places.” Then, click on the “Maps” tab and create a new map. You can add your preferred route as a custom layer on this map.

By following these steps, you can easily force Google Maps to take a certain route and enjoy a personalized navigation experience. Whether you want to avoid tolls, take a scenic drive, or simply have a preferred route, Google Maps gives you the flexibility to choose the route that suits your needs.
